Depaving is the process of removing unnecessary pavement and replacing it with plants or permeable paving. Depaving allows stormwater to soak into the ground instead of carrying pollutants into waterways. As part of their depaving mission, @flowcolumbus asked us to create a simple design that removed some of the existing pavement and added pollinator-friendly plants in a blacktop area at a Columbus City Schools building. @thelocalgardenerllc removed the pavement and prepared the beds and FLOW provided the funding and volunteers to do the planting and mulching!
